CeraVe Hydrating Micellar Water 400ml bottle

I have a confession. There are nights when the last thing I want to do is a full cleansing routine. Double cleanse, toner, the whole thing — forget it. On those nights, this is what I reach for.

The CeraVe Hydrating Micellar Water has been sitting on my shelf for a while now, and I keep coming back to it. Not because it's glamorous — it really isn't — but because it just works without making a fuss.

What it actually does

It removes makeup, dirt, and excess oil in one step. No rinsing. You pour some on a cotton pad, sweep it across your face, and you're done. That's genuinely it.

What makes it different from a basic micellar water is the formula. CeraVe builds almost everything around its three essential ceramides, and this is no exception. Add hyaluronic acid and niacinamide on top of that, and you've got a cleanser that hydrates while it cleans. Most cleansers strip. This one doesn't.

The ingredients worth knowing

Niacinamide is vitamin B3. It brightens, it evens tone, it calms redness. It's one of those ingredients that does a lot quietly.

Hyaluronic acid pulls moisture into the skin and holds it there. Sodium hyaluronate does the same but penetrates more deeply because its molecules are smaller. Having both in a cleanser is genuinely useful, especially if your skin leans dry.

The ceramides are the backbone of the whole thing. They reinforce your skin barrier — the thing that keeps moisture in and irritants out. When your barrier is compromised, your skin feels tight, reactive, and dull. Ceramides help fix that over time.

Who should use this

Honestly? Most people. But especially if you have dry or sensitive skin, if you wear makeup regularly, or if you travel a lot. It's fragrance-free, non-irritating, and the 400ml bottle lasts ages.

It's also good as a first cleanse if you do a double cleanse — use this to remove the day, then follow with a proper face wash if you feel like it.

My honest take

This isn't a luxury product. The packaging is functional, not pretty. It doesn't smell like anything. There's no ritual to it.

But it does exactly what it says, it doesn't irritate, and the ingredients are genuinely good for your skin — not just filler. For the price point, that's hard to argue with.

Some micellar waters leave a slight residue or that subtle sticky feeling. This one doesn't. Your skin feels clean and comfortable, not stripped or tight.
