CurrentBody's Series 3 LED mask launched this September, and the obvious question is whether it makes the Series 2 obsolete. Short answer: not for everyone. Series 2 is still a strong, simple anti-aging mask. Series 3 is the better buy if you want to target more than fine lines.
The quick verdict
- Choose Series 3 if you want to address pigmentation, redness, blemishes or uneven tone alongside anti-aging, and the higher price is not a dealbreaker.
- Choose Series 2 if your main goal is anti-aging with red and near-infrared light, and you prefer a simple put-it-on-and-go routine.
- Already own Series 2? Upgrade only if you want the extra wavelengths and customization.

Key differences
- More wavelengths. Series 2 is essentially a red-light mask. Series 3 adds blue, green and yellow light. According to CurrentBody, blue works on the skin's surface to help reduce the appearance of spots, green targets dark spots and pigmentation, and yellow helps calm the look of redness and balance tone. This is the biggest practical upgrade.
- MyDose and the app. Series 3 connects to the CurrentBody app. You choose which wavelength each LED emits, and MyDose calculates the power dose. You can also save and share your own protocols or use the four presets. Series 2 has none of this, and one reviewer describes it as wonderfully simple by comparison.
- More LEDs and slightly more power. The count jumps from 236 to 750, and power goes up to 40 mW/cm². CurrentBody says this gives more even, more precise coverage.
- The mask itself barely changed. One reviewer who owns both says the two masks look almost identical side by side. Weight, dimensions and the flexible design are essentially unchanged, and the straps are a slightly different shade. If you like the fit of the Series 2, you should feel at home with Series 3.

What results can you expect?
LED masks work gradually, and results vary from person to person. Brands and reviewers typically recommend consistent use, and CurrentBody suggests 10-minute sessions three to five times a week. Expect subtle improvements in the look of tone and texture over weeks, not overnight changes. Do not expect a replacement for medical skin treatment. CurrentBody also advises a patch test before first use.
Price and where to buy
Series 3 starts from GBP 499.99 on CurrentBody's UK site. One reviewer who owns both puts the gap between Series 3 and Series 2 at roughly $100. Prices and discount codes change often, so check the current price for your region before buying.

Who should buy which?
Buy Series 3 if: you are buying your first CurrentBody mask and can stretch the budget, you deal with more than one skin concern, or you like the idea of adjusting your routine as your skin changes.
Buy Series 2 if: your priority is anti-aging, you want the simplest routine, or you want to save money. Series 2 remains an independently tested, Veritace-certified device, so it is not suddenly outdated.
Stay with Series 2 if: you already own it and are happy with your results.
