Garmin CIRQA Ring: What We Know So Far (Updated)

Unconfirmed

Garmin has not announced a smart ring. Everything below comes from public regulatory filings, not an official spec sheet.

Garmin has spent years insisting it wasn't interested in the smart ring category — and now the paper trail says otherwise. Regulatory filings across three countries point to a “CIRQA Smart Ring” in active development, and the timeline of those filings has quietly picked up speed over the past month.

Garmin said no, twice

Garmin executives publicly ruled out a smart ring at the company's Health Summit in September 2024, citing concerns about sensor accuracy and the user experience of a ring form factor. That position was reaffirmed as recently as February 2026, when Garmin confirmed a new manufacturing plant would build automotive and smartwatch components — a statement that specifically excluded rings.

The filing trail

The story shifted in August. On August 12, Garmin filed a CIRQA Smart Ring for certification with Indonesian authorities under a specific certificate number. Oddly, Garmin pulled that certificate from the database the very next day, a move that reads more like caution than cancellation. Filings resumed shortly after: on September 1, Chinese regulators certified four related Garmin model numbers from the same product family, filed through Garmin's Taiwanese entity.

Brazilian regulator ANATEL has separately certified ten closely related model numbers on the same day, spanning what appears to be a full size run — evidence that Garmin is preparing multiple ring sizes rather than a single one-size model.

How many sizes?

Ten. The Brazilian filing lists ten distinct model numbers under one family, which lines up with how competitors like Oura and Ultrahuman handle sizing — a dedicated sizing kit shipped ahead of or alongside the ring itself, since ring sizing doesn't map cleanly to standard finger-measurement charts.

When could it launch?

Two windows look plausible. The August certification gave Garmin roughly two to three months of runway, which points toward an October launch — late enough to be a real product but still early enough for retailers to stock shelves before the holidays. The September China and Brazil filings reinforce that window rather than push it later. The alternative is a January reveal at CES 2027, which would give Garmin a bigger stage if it prefers to introduce an entirely new hardware category outside the holiday noise.

Not to be confused with the CIRQA Pro

Garmin is tracking two separate unreleased CIRQA devices right now, and it's easy to mix them up. The CIRQA Ring, covered here, is a new form factor. The CIRQA Smart Band Pro — leaked separately through Garmin Connect app code — is a second-generation version of the existing CIRQA wristband, adding a second button and a speaker for spoken stats. They appear to be developed in parallel, not as replacements for each other.
