Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 rugged titanium smartwatch

The Samsung Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is the brand's flagship smartwatch for demanding environments. It builds on the original Ultra with a brighter display, a significantly larger battery, and new dive-tracking capabilities developed with a professional diving equipment maker.

Design and Build

The Watch Ultra2 keeps its titanium frame, sapphire crystal back, and three-button layout, refined with a more understated look. Despite housing a larger battery, the case is notably thinner and lighter than the previous generation, thanks to internal re-engineering. The 47mm case houses a 1.52-inch circular display capable of extremely high peak brightness, making it easy to read even in direct sunlight or underwater.

Performance

Like the Galaxy Watch9, the Ultra2 adopts the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset — making it the first Galaxy Watch built on this platform. It offers a substantial jump in CPU and graphics performance over the previous chip, paired with 2GB of RAM and 64GB of storage, doubling the storage capacity of its predecessor.

Battery Life

Battery capacity is one of the standout upgrades. The Ultra2 carries a considerably larger cell than the original Ultra, translating into extended runtime even with always-on display enabled. Samsung also introduced fast charging to the Ultra line for the first time, allowing a substantial charge in a short window.

Dive and Outdoor Tracking

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is built for underwater use. It automatically detects when a dive begins and tracks depth, time, and water temperature in real time. The watch meets certification standards for diving instruments and carries a high-level water and dust resistance rating, tested against both salt water and chlorinated water. A dedicated diving app, developed in partnership with a professional dive gear brand, is expected to expand these capabilities further with ascent and descent speed tracking and safe dive limits.

For trail athletes, the Ultra2 introduces detailed elevation tracking, climbing progress data, and cumulative ascent and descent distance, helping users manage pacing on demanding terrain. An upgraded hydration feature estimates sweat loss during workouts and offers real-time guidance on when and how much to drink.

Connectivity

The Ultra2 supports LTE, dual-band GPS, dual-band Wi-Fi, and the latest Bluetooth standard, ensuring reliable connectivity whether paired with a phone or used standalone during outdoor activities.

Who Should Consider the Galaxy Watch Ultra2

The Galaxy Watch Ultra2 is built for people who push their gear hard — divers, trail runners, and outdoor athletes who need rugged durability and extended battery life. It's a considerable step up from the standard Galaxy Watch9, both in price positioning and in the specialized features it offers.
